The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Emilie Briggs as its new Executive Director, effective June 2, 2025.

This document provides stakeholders and rightsholders an ‘at-a-glace’ overview of the WBEA, its membership and values, along with examples of those values put into practice.

A Report is submitted quarterly by the WBEA on behalf of its members to Alberta Environment and Protected Areas.

The WBEA is now reporting Alberta Ambient Air Quality Guideline and Objective exceedances of PM2.5 (AAAQG&O) in accordance with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas’ (EPA) Temporary Alberta Airshed Wildfire Bulk Reporting Protocol, which is in effect from April 1 to October 31. The Community Odour Monitoring Program (COMP) allows anyone in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to submit information about odours they experience. Check out the information submitted using the app in 2023, and the analysis the WBEA did with it.

Our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan serves to outline the current operational vision of the WBEA, along with initiatives and milestones to support future growth.

The WBEA developed a special microsite to visually present data trends over time and compare data annually. Continuous and time-integrated data provides information for specific air quality parameters, ground-level concentration exceedances, and analyzer average operational time.
