Started Monitoring June 2015
Stony Mountain Air Monitoring Station is located 5.5 km west of the community of Conklin, AB, near a provincial fire tower (55.621408, -111.172686).
The Stony Mountain station contains analyzers that continuously measure Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Total Reduced Sulphur (TRS), Ozone (O3), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Nitric Oxide (NO), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Total Hydrocarbons (THC), Non Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC), Methane (CH4) and Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5). Temperature, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, leaf wetness, global radiation, and precipitation are also continuously measured. At Stony Mountain, the WBEA also operates samplers for the non-continuous parameters Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), ions, coarse and fine particulate matter, and Speciation Air Sampling (SASS) on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
