The Buffalo Viewpoint Station is located at the south end of Syncrude's South Mine (Latitude, Longitude: 56.996265, -111.59410167).
The Buffalo Viewpoint station contains analyzers that continuously measure Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Total Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Nitric Oxide(NO), Total Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Total Hydrocarbons (THC) Non Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC), Methane (CH4), Ozone (O3), Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5), wind speed and direction, visibility, relative humidity, and temperature.
