WBEA Community Odour Monitoring Program
The WBEA Community Odour Monitoring Program (COMP), previously the Human Exposure Monitoring Program, is focused on collecting data on odours in the region.
COMP was developed to gain a better understanding of how odour events relate to air quality in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). The WBEA developed an App that allows community members to submit information about the odours they experience. This information is collected in a secure database, which is later compared to the ambient air parameter concentrations recorded at the WBEA’s ambient air monitoring stations throughout the RMWB. Our aim is to understand any existing or potential relationships or trends in ambient air quality when odour observations are submitted.
Individuals residing and visiting the RMWB are encouraged to:
- Download our COMP App below.
- When you smell an odour in the air, tell us through the app.
Click to view the locations of all our ambient air monitoring stations. The hourly data collected at each station is posted, in near real-time, to each individual station page.
The COMP microsite is where you can find relevant information regarding odours, odour causing compounds, real-time data, odour observations and annual reports.
