Decommissioned Monitoring Station
Started Monitoring February 2009
Stopped Monitoring on: 2018-11-07 00:00:00
Muskeg River Air Monitoring Station (AMS) was decommissioned in November 2018 due to future mining activities in its location. The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) approved of the decommissioning of the air monitoring station with the understanding that SO2, NOx, and PM2.5 analyzers will be relocated to the Barge Landing AMS. Barge Landing AMS is located between the Muskeg River Mine and the community of Fort McKay.
The Muskeg River Air Monitoring Station is located approx. 4 km southeast of the decommissioned Albian Mine Air Monitoring station (57.249092, -111.508653).
The Muskeg River station contains analyzers that continuously measure Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitric Oxide (NO), Total Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Total Hydrocarbons (THC), wind speed and direction, relative humidity, and temperature. Time integrated sampling includes Particulate Matter 10 (PM10).
