Community Odour Monitoring Project
Community Odour Monitoring Program
NOTE: The information collected as part of the Community Odour Monitoring Program (COMP) is anonymous and for research purposes only. To make a complaint to the Alberta Government about an odour you are experiencing, please call their 24-hour Energy & Environmental Response Line at 1-800-222-6514.
The WBEA is asking the public to participate in its Community Odour Monitoring Program, which seeks to gain a better understanding of how odour events in the region relate to the ambient air quality in our region. The WBEA developed an App that allows community members to submit information about ambient odours they experience. This information is submitted to a database, which will be compared to the ambient air data collected at the WBEA’s ambient air monitoring stations throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Our aim is to determine if there are any relationships or trends that can be identified in the ambient air data when an odour is present.
At this time, the COMP program will run until March 31, 2018. At that time, the data submitted will be analyzed and a report will be produced.
Have you ever experienced odours in our region? The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA) wants to know more about them, and we need your help.
It’s easy to get involved:
