The Janvier Air Monitoring Station (AMS) is a community site located at the intersection of Teed Avenue and Nokohoo Road in the hamlet of Janvier, within the Regional Municpality of Wood Buffalo. It is located approximately 120 km southeast of Fort McMurray and can be accessed from Alberta Highway 881. The site location was volunteered by the Christina River Dene Nation Council (CRDNC).
Janvier AMS, along with Stony Mountain and Conklin AMS, are the most southerly of WBEA's continuous air monitoring stations. Janvier AMS began operation in January 2017.
Janvier AMS is equipped to continuously measure sulphur dioxide (SO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), ozone (O3), total reduced sulphurs (TRS), total hydrocarbon (THC), and methane/non-methane hydrocarbons (CH4/NMHC). The station is also equipped to continuously measure wind speed, wind direction, ambient temperature, and humidity. The meteorological sensors for wind speed and wind direction are located at 10 meter heights, while those for temperature and relative humidity are located at 3 meters.
Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) funded the building and operation of the Janvier community station.

All air quality monitoring data displayed on this site by the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association is directly from monitoring equipment output signals. Displayed data is generally indicative of ambient conditions, however, it has not been reviewed, validated, nor processed for baseline drift and other fluctuations by qualified technicians. Final processed and validated data values may vary from values displayed on this site. A displayed value of 'n/d' indicates air monitoring data is not available at the corresponding time due to scheduled maintenance and/or instrument calibration. Charted data is locked to the range of the analyzer by default, and can be unlocked by the appropriate control. Historical Monitoring Data
PLEASE NOTE: When ambient concentrations of any pollutant WBEA measures exceeds the Alberta Ambient Air Quality Objective, WBEA has an immediate Reporting Protocol that is put into action. WBEA analyzers continuously monitor ambient air, and in the event of an exceedence the following steps are taken:
1 - The data collection system automatically sends out alarm notifications to WBEA personnel and an independent third party alarm monitoring company.
2 - The alarm company acknowledges the incoming alarm and reports the data and supporting information such as wind conditions, locations, time, etc, to Alberta Environment & Parks (AEP) in real time, or as soon as becoming aware of it.
3 - AEP uses the data and information from WBEA to follow up as appropriate.
