The Wapasu Air Monitoring Station is located on the Husky Sunrise site, northeast of Fort McMurray (57.259197, -111.038583). This station began commission in November 2013.
The Wapasu station is equipped to measure Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Nitric Oxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Ozone (O3), Total Hydrocarbons (THC), Non Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC) and Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5). Wind speed and direction, temperature, relative humidity, and precipitation are also continuously measured. At Wapasu, the WBEA operates samplers for the non-continuous parameters Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and coarse and fine particulate matter on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
