The Horizon Monitoring Station is located south of Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.'s Horizon site, near Fort McKay (Latitude, Longitude: 57.303689, -111.739489). The Horizon monitoring station was installed in 2007.
The Horizon station contains analyzers that continuously measure Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Total Reduced Sulphur (TRS), Nitric Oxide(NO), Total Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Total Reduced Hydrocarbons (THC), Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5), wind speed and direction, global radiation, precipitation, relative humidity, and temperature. Time integrated sampling includes Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Particulate Matter 10 (PM10) samplers.
